WHY IS THE LOOKOUT MOVING FROM PRINT TO A DIGITAL-ONLY FORMAT?
Effective April 6, 2026, the Lookout Newspaper transitioned from print to a digital publication. This decision by the Base Commander of CFB Esquimalt was made thoughtfully, in consultation with the Lookout team and PSP Esquimalt, and reflects the broader challenges facing print media today.
Moving to a digital-first model allows us to modernize while building on the strengths that have sustained the Lookout for 82 years. The website, e-editions, and social media platforms will enable more timely updates, expanded storytelling, and greater accessibility for readers wherever they are. A digital format also supports long-term sustainability and allows us to reach a broader cross-section of our Defence community.
WHEN IS THE LAST PRINT EDITION?
The final print publication was March 23, 2026. The first digital publication was be April 6, 2026.
WILL THE LOOKOUT’S PUBLICATION SCHEDULE CHANGE?
The bi-weekly schedule will not change.

CAN I DOWNLOAD THE LOOKOUT TO READ OFFLINE?
Yes. When you open our e-edition there is an option to download as a PDF.

WHAT EVENTS DO YOU HOST OR SUPPORT?
The Lookout team supports many events at CFB Esquimalt. The Lookout hosts four annual events including Ship to Shore Industrial Tradeshow, MARPAC Health and Wellness Expo, Formation Fun Day, and a Navy Run market.
DO YOU HAVE OTHER PUBLICATIONS?
