    Tout au long du\u00a0conflit, la Marine royale canadienne (MRC)\u00a0a\u00a0aid\u00e9\u00a0\u00e0\u00a0escorter\u00a0des\u00a0milliers\u00a0de\u00a0convois\u00a0\u00e0 travers\u00a0l\u2019Atlantique,\u00a0prot\u00e9geant\u00a0les\u00a0lignes\u00a0d\u2019approvisionnement\u00a0vitales\u00a0entre\u00a0l\u2019Am\u00e9rique\u00a0du Nord et\u00a0l\u2019Europe\u00a0contre\u00a0les\u00a0attaques\u00a0des sous-marins\u00a0allemands.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    S’adressant\u00a0aux participants\u00a0lors\u00a0de la\u00a0c\u00e9r\u00e9monie, le\u00a0contre-amiral\u00a0David Patchell, commandant des Forces\u00a0maritimes\u00a0du Pacifique\/Force\u00a0op\u00e9rationnelle\u00a0interarm\u00e9es\u00a0du Pacifique (MARPAC\/FOIP), a\u00a0\u00e9voqu\u00e9\u00a0\u00e0 la\u00a0fois\u00a0le sacrifice et la force\u00a0d’\u00e2me\u00a0dont\u00a0ont\u00a0fait\u00a0preuve\u00a0les participants \u00e0\u00a0cette\u00a0campagne.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u00ab La\u00a0bataille\u00a0de\u00a0l\u2019Atlantique\u00a0fut\u00a0une\u00a0campagne\u00a0qui ne se\u00a0d\u00e9finit\u00a0pas par des moments\u00a0isol\u00e9s,\u00a0mais\u00a0par\u00a0une\u00a0endurance sans faille et un courage\u00a0discret\u00a0\u00bb, a\u00a0d\u00e9clar\u00e9\u00a0le Contre-amiral\u00a0Patchell. \u00ab Elle\u00a0s\u2019est\u00a0d\u00e9roul\u00e9e\u00a0sur un\u00a0oc\u00e9an\u00a0vaste\u00a0et\u00a0impitoyable, loin des regards du public,\u00a0o\u00f9\u00a0le danger\u00a0\u00e9tait\u00a0constant et le\u00a0r\u00e9confort\u00a0rare. \u00bb<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Aujourd\u2019hui, on\u00a0attribue\u00a0\u00e0 la MRC la destruction de 33 sous-marins\u00a0et de 42\u00a0navires\u00a0de surface\u00a0jusqu\u2019\u00e0\u00a0la fin de la guerre,\u00a0p\u00e9riode\u00a0durant\u00a0laquelle\u00a0plus de 110 000 Canadiens\u00a0avaient\u00a0pris part \u00e0 la\u00a0campagne.\u00a0Cependant, le\u00a0co\u00fbt\u00a0de la guerre\u00a0fut\u00a0immense. La Marine a perdu 34\u00a0navires\u00a0et plus de 2 000\u00a0marins,\u00a0tandis\u00a0que\u00a0l\u2019Aviation\u00a0royale canadienne (ARC) et la marine\u00a0marchande\u00a0ont\u00a0\u00e9galement\u00a0subi\u00a0des\u00a0pertes\u00a0importantes.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
